Exfoliating your feet removes dead skin cells, making your feet soft and smooth. You can use a pumice stone to remove dead skin cells, or you can make your own exfoliating foot scrub. To make your own exfoliating foot scrub, combine one tablespoon of brown sugar, one tablespoon of olive oil, and one tablespoon of baking soda. Massage the mixture into your feet and toes. Rinse your feet when you're done. This exfoliating scrub is also good for your knees and elbows.

 

Clean Your Toes

Deep cleaning your feet will make your toes look prettier for summer. Adding a few drops of tea tree oil to a basin of warm water and soaking your feet in it. After you've soaked your feet for 10 to 15 minutes, wash your feet with mild soap and a washcloth. Pay close attention to the spaces between your toes where dirt likes to build up.

 

Moisturize

Your feet need moisture to stay soft and smooth. Vaseline is a great moisturizer. Before you go to bed, put some Vaseline on your feet. Cover your feet with cotton socks, and leave them on overnight while you sleep.

 

If you prefer a commercial product, Looking for a product that contains jojoba oil, shea butter, macadamia oil, and urea; these ingredients penetrate deep into the skin. If you have cracked feet, aloe vera is a good choice for moisturizing your feet.

 

It's also important to keep your cuticles moisturized. Use cuticle oil daily to keep your cuticles hydrated.

 

Properly Trim Your Toenails

Trim your toenails every two weeks. You want to cut your toenails no shorter than the edge of your toe. Cut your toenails straight across in order to prevent ingrown toenails. Use a nail file to file down sharp edges. It's best to trim your nails when they're moist. Try trimming your nails after you have a shower or bath or after you soak your feet in a foot basin.

 

Polish

Before you polish your toenails, ensure that they are clean and dry; your polish will stick to your nails better. Always start with a base coat. A base coat helps your polish stick to your nail better and prevents pigmented polishes from staining your toenails.

 

Use bold colors on your toenails. You can get ideas for nail art on the Internet; there are so many fun and creative designs you can use on your toenails. Staying away from quick-dry nail polish because it tends to dehydrate nails. Don't leave your nail polish on for more than two weeks to help prevent the spread of toenail fungus.
